Statement

The Ontario government applauds the leadership of Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Phil Fontaine and First Nation leadership across Canada and Ontario in achieving a successful National Day of Action.

“I’m confident this day will serve to strengthen relationships based on mutual respect and understanding,” said Michael Bryant, Ontario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs.

Today’s events underscore that there is more work to do. AFN and First Nation leaders and members across Canada and Ontario have demonstrated that together we can move forward to improve the quality of life for First Nation people.
