ONTARIO SUPPORTS CANADA'S ACTION IN NAMING FACT-FINDER TO THE SITUATION IN CALEDONIA

TORONTO – Minister Responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, David Ramsay, supports the Government of Canada's decision to appoint a fact-finder to gather information in an effort to resolve the situation in Caledonia, Ontario.

"I have been in discussion with my counterpart, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Jim Prentice and I am encouraged that Canada is taking steps to resolve this situation," said Ramsay.

Ontario wishes to see a peaceful and timely resolution to this matter.

The McGuinty government is committed to maintaining improved relationships with Aboriginal peoples living in Ontario.
