Advisory Committees

Municipal Advisory Committee

Co-Chairs Brian Crane and Michael Johnson

The committee represents local, county and district governments across and adjacent to the area that is subject to the Algonquin claim. In addition to its important advisory role to the Ontario negotiations, the committee has been established to gather, record and distribute information about the land claim, and advise on specific settlement proposals. The committee consists of the heads of council, or their designates, for each of the member municipalities.

Committee of External Advisors

Co-Chairs Brian Crane and Bill Calvert

This committee is comprised of representatives from a broad range of stakeholder groups with direct interests in the claim and/or expertise in specific areas of importance to the claim. The role of the committee is to provide the province with advice on specific issues arising in the negotiations.

Coalition of Concerned Citizens

In 1996, Ontario established a third group, the Coalition of Concerned Citizens, to provide a communication link between the Ontario negotiating team and various organizations with interests in social justice issues related to land claims.
