Settlements & Agreements
Here is a list of land-claim and land-related settlements and agreements that have been implemented or are in the process of being implemented.
A final settlement agreement is a legally binding document that:
- Outlines the elements of a negotiated settlement, and
- Is formally approved before being signed by the federal minister, provincial minister, and First Nation Chief or negotiator.
To date, the following final settlement agreements have been signed and implemented:

- Mississauga #8 Northern Boundary Settlement Agreement (1994)

- Thessalon Settlement Agreement (2000)
- Whitefish River, Phase I (1998)
- Wikwemikong Settlement Agreement (Point Grondine) (1995)
The following final settlement agreements have been signed and are in the process of being implemented:

- Rainy River (2005)
- Rat Portage-Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation (2009)

An agreement-in-principle is a non-legally binding document outlining proposed elements of a settlement as agreed to by negotiators.
To date, the following agreements-in-principle have been reached:
